When’s the last time you went for a walk somewhere you’ve never been?
Over the last few months, I’ve picked up a habit that’s been very beneficial for me: Sunday walks
First thing I do every Sunday morning is open google maps, and find a reserve or park I haven’t been to, and I go for a walk.
Sometimes it’s a long one, lasting a few hours, and sometimes, I just go out the front door, down to the creek, and I’m back in 20 minutes
But here’s the thing, I always feel a lot better after it
If I’m tired or stressed out – I tend to get really tight across my shoulders and neck – and these walks give me the chance to check in, realise I’m carrying tension and mindfully release it
Mentally, I just let any thoughts I’m having run their course and I’ll decide whether or not taking action is necessary or let them go.
I started posting a picture from my walk on Instagram every week to show everyone a bit of how I see the world. We’re fortunate enough to live in a city that’s kept a lot of its natural state, So you don’t have to go far to get away from everything for a bit

If you don’t, you can always drive to one

- Tinbinbilla Nature Reserve (South Canberra)
- Botanical Gardens (Black Mountain)
- Mount Rogers (Charnwood/Melba/Fraser)
- Aranda Bushland (Aranda/Cook)
- Pinaccle (Hawker)
- Dunlop Grasslands (Dunlop)
- Mount Majura (Dickson/Ainslie)
- One Tree Hill (Hall)
So this week’s challenge is to find a park or reserve in Canberra, somewhere you haven’t been to, get outside and go for a walk
