If you’re still undecided about signing up for this year’s CrossFit Games Open – hopefully this post will help you make up your mind…
Reason #1 – It’s a great opportunity to see how you stack up as a CrossFitter on a local, National and International scale.
You may be the king of your very own garage gym, local box or one of the best athletes in your city but how do you stack up against the 138,000 other CrossFitters around the globe. Each Saturday (over the next 5 weeks) you’ll get compete, submit your score and find out how well rounded you are as a CrossFitter?!
Reason #2 – We want this year’s Adapt team to be the biggest ever!
It’s been great to watch the amount of the Adapt peeps grow each year. Back in 2011 I think we had about 11 and about 22 in 2012. Last year we had about 45 and this year (so far) 63 of our fine people have registered but I know there’s still a few more who need to put their names down. I’d have to say that I’m just “a little bit” excited and the cool thing is that with that amount of people the atmosphere in the box over the next 5 weeks is going to be #electric – which is definitely something you don’t want to miss – no really…
Reason #3 – Watch: The Test Of Fitness (on YouTube) and then tell me you don’t want to be part of something that’s so much bigger than you are…
Go on then, Go and register already…
Did you compete in last year’s Open? Or how about the year before? If you did, were you glad you participated? What would you say to someone who’s still undecided about competing in this year’s Open – Please share your thoughts to comments.
3-3-3-3-3 zercher squat
Rest 5 min, then:
VOL training: dead hang pull-ups and swings (light)
If you missed Saturday morning's 10am throw down -yep, you sure missed a good one. Not to worry though as you can see we put some footage up on vimeo. It doesn't really do it justice but you'll get the jist of it.
Obviously with Easter next weekend a lot of people will be away. Sean will be around though and has offered to run the following sessions:
Becca and I (and the rest of the missing C3 crew) are back from the C3 Presence conference in Sydney. We all had a great time drinking coffee and even visting the CrossFit Sydney crew a couple of times. Spending more than 3 days/nights smack bang in the middle of the city makes you really appreciate Canberra. I will never complain about Canberra traffic (and the GDE) ever again after it took over an hour and a half to reach Liverpool (M5) from Liverpool St (in the city) yesterday arvo on the way home.
Friday 6am session: 'Having a play with the WOD#11.4'
So instead of #11.4
2 rounds (5 min):
30 bar facing burpees
15 OH squats (make the weight difficult)
— rest 3min
If you actually finish your OH squats in each round then the weight is too light. These are supposed to be heavy and it's supposed to be difficult.
That's right people we'll be rocking out at Adapt tomorrow morning at 10am. If you managed to make it out to CF 2600 last weekend you would have got to experience a pretty sick set up. If you were out at Adapt the weekend before then you'll know just how awesome a local throw down can be. If you're not competing please make sure you still come out to support the athletes that are! It will, without fail be another epic event!
2011 CrossFit Games WOD #2
15 min AMRAP:
9 Deadlifts (70kg/45kg)
15 Box jumps (24″/20″)
Hey guys, make sure you come out to tomorrow morning's 10am CF Games Open WOD #2 to support the Adapt crew (Rosey, Sean, Ben E, Will Kay, Matt, and more..). It's going to be epic!
If you made it to this morning's 6am session and got to experience it yourself you know how tough its gonna be tomorrow 🙂 For more info check out the Adapt website.
