What have you got planned for 2017?

What do you want out of the year ahead?

More specifically, what do you want in the areas of

  • family and relationships?
  • health and fitness?
  • your career or education?
  • your finances?

Whatever you’re hoping for in 2017, my next questions is this: Have you spent any time thinking about it and what it would take to achieve it?

One thing I’ve found is that people get all funny when you start talking about goals and goal setting. Some people get interested and some people get angry. I’ve must have experienced just about every type of response…

“I love setting goals – wanna see my mind map?”

“I hate setting goals – Don’t come at me with all that Tony Robbins bullshit!”

“Yeah I set some goals once – but it never really worked for me…”

Zig Ziglar has a saying: “If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time…” and I think he’s bang on. People who consistently set and review personal goals have a greater chance of reaching them than those who don’t. Even when they fall short they’re closer to the prize because they took action

There are many goal setting systems and methodologies but for the sake of this article I want to keep things super simple – oh what the hell, I want a system too! Let’s call this Ben’s Super Simple Goal Setting System or… The BSSGSS – yep, that sounds way better 😉
