Saturday 08.03.14

14.2

Crossfit Games 14.2 is Overhead Squats followed by Chest to Bar Pull Ups

The clock start at 0:00 and you have 3 minutes to complete 2 Rounds of:

  • 10 Overhead Squats (43/30kg)
  • 10 Chest to Bar Pull Ups

If you complete this within the 3 minutes you can rest for the remaining time on the clock and you’ll qualify for the next 3 minute round where the rep range increases by 2 to 12 of each movement:

3:00 to 6:00

  • 12 Overhead Squats (43/30kg)
  • 12 Chest to Bar Pull Ups

This pattern continues (additional 2 reps per movement and 3 minutes on the clock) until the athlete is unable to complete the 2 rounds within the required time period

Coaches Ben, Becca and Rosey performed the workout on Friday and gave their thoughts and tips on the video below

10! Knew what it would be going in. Next year I’ll have C2B. Great watching the 6 am crew.

    19. It’s safe to say my strength isn’t on the pull-up bar and considering on Monday I could do ZERO C2B I pretty happy with my 9.
OHS felt fine and wish I could’ve done more ha-ha!

Amazing atmosphere today! So many amazing efforts and results! Dale and Kettie just killed this workout and so many other got new OHS PBs and their first C2B it was so amazing to watch people give their all, no matter the score!

  • TarrynC says:

My score was 10 which is what I expected!

Got the OHS out unbroken so I could spend time on the bar trying to few kipping pull ups. I am so close! I have been able to get a few(maybe 3 in total) jumping pull ups in recent weeks so will be working on eccentric pull ups for the next few weeks on Seans advice to try and get them strict.

Really looking forward to hitting this WOD again in 6 months time when I’m less injured.
I had a hard week, leading up to Friday I was 85% certain I was not going to do 14.2 because of a lot of pain. The 15% was my ego, saying “just do it”. The 15% won…
32 reps, first 10 OHS unbroken and felt really comfortable, 10 C2B broken into 5/3/2 then back onto the OHS and everything died – my left shoulder couldn’t hold the weight and my hip started to get a bit painful so I had to drop these to small numbers.
Happy to have got some reps, disappointed I couldn’t perform 100%, but I’ll see how the body responds.

Awesome effort put in by everybody yesterday! Great to see so many people continue to try and give it their all!

I got 64. I was really happy with that, even though it’s about 20% of Talayna’s score. Karen and I came back for a couple of the later sessions and really enjoyed watching every go at it (much nicer when you’ve been and gone and the nerves are over with).

One of the things I found myself reflecting on most is that despite none of us being with sight of the Froning types, I saw a lot of people have a personal win. For some it was getting just a a few overhead squats and for others it was their first C2B. Whatever the case, I didn’t see anyone who just checked out so it really epitomised the “Effort earns respect” ethos.

But boy was I stiff last night. That was partly because Karen has the bright idea that we should tackle Black Mountain in the afternoon. About halfway up, where the steep bit begins, my thighs and I had a heated internal conversation about whether it was wise to continue. I thought I won because we pressed on, but they had the last word in the evening.
