Tough Mudder call out and Whole30 BBQ this coming Saturday…

Hey all you Tough Mudders :)

Kwest and Mikey just hit me up to let me know that there’s only 4 weeks until Tough Mudder. About 20 people have registered and they’d really like to confirm final numbers. It’ll also help them to work out a bit of an approach on the day (e.g running together, buddying up strategies etc), plus pre and post-events meet-up details. Here’s who’s registered so far:

Please hit up the @fasterhumans via twitter and let them know what you’re thinking.

Whole30 BBQ this coming Saturday @ 5pm @ Rosey & Nays

Speaking of confirming numbers, all systems are now gor for a Whole30 BBQ at Rosey and Nays place this coming Saturday @ 5pm.

If you’re coming, let me know via comments and also what epic Whole30 approved dish you’ll be bringing. It’ll be a great chance to catch up with your regular workout buddies and also a great chance to meet the rest of the Adapt crew (eg. people who’ve been training with us for ages but you’ve never met because you train at different sessions, etc.)

Monday 27.8.12

EMOTM for 10 mins: 2 pull-ups w/ max weight

- then -

4 rounds (20 min cap):

  • 400m run
  • 25 burpees

– for those who’d like to amp things up we’ve got some 10kg weighted vests (certainly gives you a new perspective on burpees)

Post loads and training notes to comments.

Comments

  1. Don’t train for 3 months and find a workout with burpees.

A: first 5 rounds with no weight – last 5 with weight vest

B: 2 rounds – it’s not the burpees I dislike, its the run.

Have to make sure I ease myself back into this stuff.

  2. Did the lot with a 10kg weight vest. First time I’ve worked out with one of these, and it certainly is a challenge.

    A: Done
B: Finished with about a minute to spare on the clock.

  3. A – Done on blue band, and still struggled towards the end.
B – Finished on 19 burpees, but continued on to 25 after time, I was so close!

  4. veronicarose says:

It was my first morning workout today! Everyone was so nice, so thank you all for making me feel so welcome.
A: Did them with a purple band for all but two sets, added an orange band for one and a yellow for the other.
B: I finished three rounds with four minutes or so to spare. I’m working my way up to keeping up with everyone and I feel great coming in.

Just wanted to give a big thank you to John! Having someone push me a little on that last bit of the run helped!

  5. YAY BURPEES!

Was a good session for a Monday, nothing too serious, but certainly did some good.

Loving the upper body stuff at the moment. All I can really do at the moment after smashing the bad knee last Thursday.

    A. Blue – Purple band
    B. Finished – 400m row and burpees scaled to stepping up (ankle, knee)

  6. A: Worked at 42kg for the chins.

B: Nearly got out the door without the weight vest, dont remember the time i was pretty shagged by the end.

C:Nic and myself will both be coming to the BBQ, will be bring Asian style tacos, see you all there.

  7. A: orange band, all reps felt good, would maybe trying going yellow band next time. can’t wait till i’m doing them unbanded just to avoid the constant struggle of getting in & out of the band in a semi-coordinated manner!

B: finished at 27:30 for both. runs were slow, still recovering from sickness, so there was a fair bit of nose blowing along the way.

BBQ – ahh would’ve loved to go if was on earlier, i’ll have a family birthday dinner to go to around then so won’t be able to make it. definitely keen to come to the next one! i’m starting my first whole30 on saturday too, make sure someone takes photos – it’d be nice to see the variety of food options/give me some cooking inspiration!

  8. A: managed to do the lot with a 3kg dumbell. I think I could have made it with 4kgs but not sure about 5.

B: Managed to finish with about 3 and half minutes to go. Was a tough one for a Monday.

C: Bron and I will be there. We will bring an asian broccoli slaw and some kebabs or rissoles (whatever we get around to on the day).

  9. The most amount of unbanded pull ups I’ve done. Happy.
Then finished with 6:23 on the clock. Felt good today.

  10. A: 4rnds @ 22kg, 6rnds @ 24kg
    B: 15 mins-ish with vest

Jess and I will be heading to the BBQ and we’ll be bringing some scotch eggs and spiced roasted cauliflower.

  11. A: 10kg weighted pull-ups
B: About 30 secs to go with10kg vest.
C: Lize and I can’t make the 5pm. Whole 30 has ended so we’re going to let someone else do the cooking. Paleo of course!

  12. A. First ever chin ups! Used two bands, but managed to get through them.
    B. got through with 2:32 left on the clock. Burpees are evil!

Won’t make the BBQ, have a prior commitment – have a fab time!

  13. A: used the orange band…. became quite difficult toward the end – sorry Ben for almost stacking and causing you to instruct how NOT to use the bands……
B: after not realising we went straight from A to B – I stumbled around for a bit getting my shoes on….. then finished at about 25:58 (I think) – love running….. not minding burpees at much… Props to the weighted vest dudes – you guys are awesome!
